April 2014 Meeting Report

E-mail Print PDF

This month’s meeting was the AGM. The chairman gave a report which included going over the events of the last year and revealing the planned events for the coming year. The secretary presented the accounts and remarked that membership currently stands at 52 members. The officers were elected and these are Chair, Eric Tillery, Vice Chair Gordon Payne, Secretary and Events coordinator Margaret Young, Treasurer Iris Gahegan, Newsletter editor, Jean Demaine and Archivist David Aveling.

The AGM finished at 8pm and the rest of the evening was spent watching a DVD about the few remaining Rotherham men who served in the armed forces in WWII. This included Treeton resident Harry Parker who sadly died recently, he was a navigator on Path finder missions with the RAF. They all told their own very interesting and sometimes amusing stories.
