Echoes of Laughter

On Thursday 28 February 2013 Trevor Page presented "Echoes of Laughter", an account of some of the history and comic goings-on at Sheffield's famous old variety theatres - the Sheffield Empire and the Attercliffe Palace.  Trevor, who had himeslf worked in variety theatres as a young man, illustrated his talk with comical anecdotes, and songs from many of the well-remembered comedians of the time.  Afterwards, members had the extra treat of being able to look at the records and comments in theatrical boarding house  guest-books, which were very kindly brought along by a local resident, which came from his grandmother's lodging-house in Tinsley and which included some of the very stars featured in Trevors' talk.
