Can we afford the doctor?

Sadly the turnout for this meeting was lower than we would normally expect, but those who weren't able to attend missed a treat courtesy of Joanne Brunt, whose talk about the days before the NHS was really captivating.  Joanne illustrated her talk with a fascinating collection of original examples of medicines and devices collected over many years.  She took us gradually through the stages of our lives from birth through to infancy, adulthood, parenthood, old age and death, illustrating each with the treatments that would have been available and prompting a lot of lively recollections from members of their own experiences in growing up. Joanne gave a polished performance that kept the group entertained for a very enjoyable evening.
