Provisional programme for the Battle of Treeton

The battle of Treeton Civil War re-enactment event takes place in Treeton near Rotherham on the weekend of 11th-12th July 2009.  A provisional programme for the weekend is given below, although this may be subject to change:

Tuesday 7th July

Friday 10th July

  • Re-enactors begin to arrive on site.
  • Beer tents open at Treeton Cricket Club in the evening.
A limited-edition real ale has been specially brewed for the event and will be on sale over the weekend. The ale has been christened ‘Robin’s Vindication’ in memory of Robin Carter, the late chair of Treeton Local History Group, who had the inspiration for the event.

Saturday 12th July

10amProcession through the village,  drawing authentic replica 17th Century cannon.
10am  - 5pmLiving History encampment open to the public, at the 'cow Field', Washfield Lane.
12 noonDrill by the Marquess of Newcastle's Regiment of Foote
3pm - 4pmBattle re-enactment, 'cow Field', Washfield Lane.
4.30pm - 5.15pmBell ringing at St Helen's church, Treeton, by the Mugginton bell ringers of Derbyshire.

 Sunday 13th July

10.30 am - 4pmLiving History encampment open to the public, at the 'cow Field', Washfield Lane.
11am17th Century church service re-enactment at St Helen's church, Treeton.
12 noonDrill by the Marquess of Newcastle's Regiment of Foote.
2.30pm - 3.30pmBattle re-enactment, 'cow Field', Washfield Lane.

Additional entertainments will be available throughout the weekend, to include a 17th Century puppet show, a free medieval bouncy castle and/or 40ft fun trailer for the children, and food and refreshments. The beer tents will be open in the evening on Friday and Saturday.
